Abigail woke us up at 7:30. She was talking and seemed like she was in a good mood. I went ahead and changed her clothes and her diaper, thinking then she would go back to sleep. When I was in the shower, Chris got her up b/c she was still talking. Well, then she got fussy and I had to rock her for a little bit to get her settled down. She did go back to sleep, then was talking again a little after 9. But, that was ok b/c I was going to have to wake her up anyway. Today was the fair parade which started at 10. Mom, Tim, Gpa Wells, Gma & Gpa Shepherd, Abigail and I all went and sat in the same area. It was a long parade but it was fun. Abigail seemed to like watching different parts and didn't seem to mind the horns on the big trucks or the sirens on the fire trucks (too much anyway). Gma (mine) got her to sleep but only slept for a few mins before a truck woke her up. I went to Little Ceasars to pick up a pizza for lunch. Tim actually went in and got it for me so I didn't have to get Abigail out of the car. She started getting fussy on the way home but was fine while we ate our lunch. She fell asleep on her bottle, so I just held her for a little while. I don't get a chance to do that here at home much since she now sleeps in her crib. I took a nap again then Chris went outside to mow.

Chris came home around lunchtime for the rest of the day. Since he was home, I decided to take a nap while Abigail was sleeping. When I got up, I started getting ready to go to an Area Wide Sing. Abigail wasn't going to sleep when we wanted her to, but she did eventually. I like to have her get a nap in before we go somewhere so she will be in a better mood while we are there. She took part of a bottle on the way to the sing and finished it while we were there. She was playing for a little while, but I went ahead and put her to sleep before she got fussy. She woke up before it was over, but did well. She had us up 3-4 times within an hour in the night so we went ahead and gave her a bottle even though she wasn't acting hungry. She then slept until 7:30.

I got my shower before Chris left for work since Abigail was still sleeping. She woke up sooner than I wanted her to, but she was in a pretty good mood. I gave her a bottle with some Tylenol since she was going to get her 4 month shots. Her doctor's appointment was at 9 but it was after 10 before we left the hospital. I went to mom's after leaving the hospital. We then went to see a friend of hers that is in poor health. Then we went to Aldi's and then Wal-Mart. After we got home, I was able to get the kitchen & living room area cleaned up since it was messy from when we got home. After supper, Chris and I played with the new steering wheel he got me for our Anniversary (he also got me a necklace that has 3 birthstones on it- his, mine and Abigail's). I went to bed early since I was still tired after our trip away.

I woke up at 8:30. I had actually slept for more than 8 hours. It had been a LONG time since that had happened. It was raining so the squirrels were not out looking for hickory nuts, so that allowed us to sleep in. We got ready and got our things packed. Chris packed up the car in the rain. We took some pictures of the cabin, then turned in the key. Since it was raining, we didn't go canoeing, we just went to some of the nearby shops. We ate at a BBQ restaurant for lunch and went to more shops. Then we headed back to town to get our Abigail. We missed her. She took a nap while we got ready to go to Chris's grandma's for supper. I took her to cradle roll again, even though she was the only child there. I wiped her runny nose for the very first time during class. It is due to her starting to teeth. When we came home, it was bottle and bedtime for Abigail.

Our 2nd Anniversary
Chris and I were awaken about 7 by the sound of hickory nut shells falling on the cabin. We got ready and went into Logan to see if there were any shops that we wanted to look in. We found some donuts and then walked up and down main street. We stopped in one store but didn't find anything exciting. In the car, heading to the horseback riding place, we found another store. We stopped in and looked around but then determined that we were not going to have time. So, we went ahead and went horseback riding. We rode for about an hour. It was good. Then we went back in to Logan. We ate lunch at a pizza place then went back to the store that we were in before. We found a few things to buy. Then we hung out at the cabin for a while before getting ready to go eat. I had looked online and found a restaurant in Lancaster that looked like it would be a nice place for an anniversary. It was a very good place. We each enjoyed our dinner and had a host take our picture outside. We set the camera on a timer and took our picture in the cabin. We had a good anniversary.

Abigail played, went for a walk with grandma, took naps, and got a bath before going to bed.

The Fall at Old Man's Cave- no water
Abigail woke us up a little before our alarms were to get us up. I started writing out things that Mom needed to know. I was still working on that when Chris left to take the car to get the oil changed. Oh, before he left, Abigail was being really fussy and refusing to go back to sleep. She finally did, though. I got some more things done while Abigail slept, then she decided to be fussy again. I gave her a bottle, then she was fine. When Chris came home, I got my shower, then we got everything else ready and we left. It was hard leaving Abigail, but I knew she would be fine. Chris and I went to Sonic for lunch in Nelsonville since we don't have one here yet. Then we went to Old Man's Cave and Cedar Falls. Both Falls had either little or no water coming over them since it has been so dry. But, it was still neat. After seeing those, we went to our Cabin and hung out there for the rest of the night. We grilled Hamburgers and had baked beans and chips for supper. Later, we had a campfire and had toasted marshmallows and smores. We had a couple squirrels that became very annoying. We had a Hickory tree right next to the cabin, so the squirrels would throw the shells down constantly. I also had my first tick on my toe. Chris quickly got it off, though.
Of course, since we left Abigail with her grandma, she decides to roll over from her belly to her back. She only did it one time on Monday but more times after that. Abigail also read books with her Grandma and watched a Baby Einstein tape.
Sunday, August 24, 2008
I took Abigail to cradle roll again and she did good. She enjoys watching the "older" kids play. Mom didn't have Grandpa for most of the day, so we went to lunch with her and Tim at Bob Evans. When we came home, I got busy getting things ready for our time away. I had to get my stuff packed, but also get Abigail's things ready for mom. We had leftover pizza for supper after church.
Saturday, August 23, 2008
I went over to my neighbor's to take care of their cats. Gma & Gpa are friends with them too and so they were picking some peaches off of their peach tree. Gma mentioned watering Annette's flowers, so she helped me. We finished about 10 then Chris got ready to go to a shoot at his dad's place. About 2, mom and Tim came and we then went swimming at my neighbor's pool. Chris came home after a while and then we ordered pizza and we all ate it at my house. I showed mom some things that she would need to know since she was going to be keeping Abigail Monday-Wednesday.
Friday, August 22, 2008
Abigail rolled over from her back to her belly. She made it look easy. The picture was taken right after she rolled over. While she was sleeping, I got a shower, etc because when Chris got home, we were planning to go run around. His dad had mentioned that his employees were wanting to see Abigail. So, we went to his office then to OVU bookstore for Chris to pick out some material for the class he is teaching next quarter. We ate at Logan's and then went to Wal-Mart. Abigail was so tired the whole time, yet she did great.

Last day of the lectures. Abigail did pretty good once again. We had leftovers from the night before for supper, then after the evening lecture I headed to Wal-Mart. It had been a long and tiring week. I only had a few things to get but the main reason I went was to pick up Chris's anniversary present that I ordered online and had shipped to the store. Well, as she was checking it to make sure it was correct, she ended up bending the mat (it was a frame with a mat). Obviously, I did not want him to have a frame with a bent-up mat, so I asked what I could do about it. All they said was that I had to return it and order another one. I knew that it would not come in by our anniversary. But what really made me mad was that the lady didn't even acknowledge that she did it. I know I was more upset than I should've been (though not toward them) but I think it was worse becasue of how tired I was from the busy week.
Wednesday, August 20, 2008
She did pretty good a the lectures again. During the afternoon, I decided to see how she would do in the auditorium. She was a bit fussy for the first one and I thought about not staying, but she went right to sleep during the 2nd one. We left a little early because the speaker kept talking and she was getting fussy. I also had to get home to prepare supper for Chuck and Kathy. They were coming to eat supper with us then go to the Lectureship. Abigail was a bit fussy again, but it had been a long week.
Tuesday, August 19, 2008
She did great again for the lectures. I took her to the nursery in the afternoon again and this time, she slept till almost the end of the 2nd lecture. We came home and she took a nap. I even laid down a little myself. Chris had trouble with a tire on his bike so it was after 5:30 when he got home. We quickly made and ate supper and then left to go back to the lectureship. When we came home, it was bathtime, bottletime and bedtime for Abigail.
Monday, August 18, 2008
The lectureships started at 9:30 at Harmar Hill. I wasn't sure how Abigail was going to do and how many lectures we would go to. However, she did great. She took a nap during the 2nd morning lecture. During lunch, we put her in the walker-type seat from the cradle roll class while we ate. After I finished eating, we looked at the bookstore briefly and then I took her upstairs to the nursery. I gave her a bottle and then put her in the cradle for a nap. She sleeps on her side and since she didn't have her sleep positioner from home, she kept rolling over onto her back. She eventually gave up and went to sleep but just for 30 mins. She seemed to be in a good mood so I went ahead and took her back to the auditorium during the break. During the next lecture, she didn't stay happy for very long. In fact, she got VERY FUSSY. I took her up to the nursery and still couldn't get her settled down. Mom could hear her crying so she brought up the bag. Mom took her and I was getting a bottle ready (even though it wasn't really time for one) when she started settling down. We came home after that lecture (that was the last one for the afternoon) and she took a nap. She did ok for the evening lecture. I did have to take her out once but after she burped, she was fine.
Sunday, August 17, 2008
I took Abigail to Cradle Roll class for the first time on Sunday Morning and she did great. We had leftover Lasagna for lunch. I laid down for a nap while Abigail was sleeping. She seems to always sleep longer when Chris is here to take care of her. She did pretty good during services that night. It was great to see Charles, Sharon and Nicole Pugh once again.
Saturday, August 16, 2008
Jason and Crystel were in town for a wedding, so about 10 am, they stopped by to see us. They brought a bag full of baby clothes from a friend of theirs, so I went through the bag while they were here. After a while of visiting, Chris grilled Hamburgers on the grill. Abigail played fine on the floor for a little while as we ate, but then I held her. Crystel had arranged to meet a friend at 1, so she left and I put Abigail down for a nap. I continued to go through the clothes and Jason and Chris played Playstation 3. After while, Kathy came to baby-sit. We went over where things were that she might need, then Chris and I went on a date. Chris and I went mini-golfing, went to eat at Red Lobster and went to a couple stores to get a few things. Abigail did pretty good for Kathy and was awake when we got home about 8. After Kathy left, we gave Abigail her bath and put her to bed.
Friday, August 15, 2008
Even though I had been shopping just last night, there were still some things that I needed to get. So, since mom offered to watch Abigail, I took her to mom's then went to town by myself. It seemed like it took forever just to make a few stops. When I brought her home, it was naptime. Chris came home for the day soon after I got everything brought in from the car. I was working on putting things away. After finishing that, Chris and I worked on peeling and slicing apples. They were for an apple pie that I made. Then, it was time to start getting lasagna ready for supper. Once again, Chris helped. Between 4 & 4:30, Chris' grandma Davis came to spend time with Abigail. Remarkably, she was in a good mood even though she was sleepy. Gma Davis ate supper with us and then went home. Now we are watching the Olympics while Abigail is sleeping.

After we got home from Bible Class on Wednesday night, she had a bottle about 9:15. Two times in the night, she woke up but then went back to sleep after I gave her the pacifier back. I woke up at 8 then woke her up accidentally when I went to check on her. She waited until 8:30 till she started crying for her bottle. I couldn't belive she went over 11 hours between bottles. While she slept off and on, I tried to go through her outfits and try to figure out if she needed all of her 3-6 month summer outfits. I still had tags on a few of them so I planned on exchanging them for other sizes or outfits that she can use at a later time. Mom and I went had a couple of coupons that we wanted to use, so Chris stayed with Abigail while we went to Parkersburg. We were able to find some good deals.
Wednesday, August 13, 2008
Mom and I went walking and to the library in the morning. I was able to find a few books for Abigail, though it will be much better when she can sit through a longer book. Most nights, she starts crying before we are done with a 4-5 page book. She's just sleepy and wants to go to bed. When we got home, I put her down for a nap and then I actually laid down myself. I was able to lay down for about an hour before she got me up. I put the pacifier back in and she went back to sleep. I then worked out putting her 3 month pictures in the collage frame. At church, I took her down for class and she did so much better than she normally does upstairs. I am still not ready to leave her but will probably start taking her to class regularly.
Tuesday, August 12, 2008
While Chris was home for lunch, we decided that after he got home from work, we were going to go get an oil change in the car, go to Wal-Mart and eat supper at River City. A lady from the Early Intervention program at Ewing School (who I knew years ago from church camp) came after 3 for me to sign some papers and talk more about the program. It was nice to be able to catch up with her, since I hadn't talked to her in years. After she left, I put Abigail down for a nap and soon after, Chris called. We decided that we would not have enough time to get the car to the dealership by 5, but as soon as Abigail woke up we would head to town. Mom called me while we were in Wal-Mart and said they were going to Gma & Gpa's for a campfire. So, we stopped over there on our way home but only stayed for 30 mins or so. Then we came home, gave Abigail a bath and put her to bed.
Monday, August 11, 2008
Abigail woke up about 7:45, right after I got out of the shower. I got her up and let her play while I was working on getting things done, then put her back down, thinking she would go back to sleep. Leann from Help Me Grow was to be here about 9 and I wanted her to be in a good mood. Well, she had her own plan, which didn't involve going back to sleep. She dirtied her pants, then wanted a bottle. But, she was in a good mood for Leann so it didn't matter that she didn't go back to sleep when I wanted her to. After Leann left, I put her down and she slept for 2 hrs. I gave her a bottle and then we went to see Grandma and Grandpa. While we were there, Abigail played on the floor and they enjoyed watching her play and roll around. We came home and she went to sleep for a while. I fixed meatloaf for supper and worked on that some while she was sleeping. Later on, while showing Chris that she was starting to tolerate being on her belly, she actually pushed her chest off of the floor for the first time.
Sunday, August 10, 2008
Abigail wasn't too bad in church. I had to take her out for a diaper change, but not to put her to sleep like I have had to many times lately. When we got home from church, Chris made spaghetti and meatballs while I took care of Abigail. After making some M&M cookies, I took a nap while Abigail was sleeping. I tried the baseball game again and still wasn't good at it. Abigail went to sleep in church again. When we got home, I gave her a bottle (which took an hour) and put her to bed. I ate a sandwich for supper then played against Chris in baseball.
Saturday, August 9, 2008
Abigail woke me up early so I went ahead and got a shower then went to some garage sales. I figured since Chris was here to stay with Abigail, it was a good chance for me to go. I was able to find some good deals, then spent a lot of time the rest of the day cleaning the things I got. Some of them won't be used for quite a while but it can be hard to pass up good deals. I tried to learn to play the MLB '08 game on the playstation 3, but I was very good at losing.
Friday, August 8, 2008
Kathy and her friend Linda King came to visit this morning. Abigail was actually in a good mood. They got to see her smile, hear her talk and squeal. While they were here, they mentioned going to a yard sale a street over, so after they left, Abigail and I went to check it out. I was able to get a few good deals. Then, it was naptime for Abigail. While she slept, I folded laundry. We tried her in the Jumperoo after she got up and she did surprisingly well. I thought we would be taking it back down to the basement, but she liked it. Chri's mom and dad are coming to visit later this evening. He hasn't seen her for a while.
Thursday, August 7, 2008
Chris didn't come home for lunch and while I ate my lunch, Abigail watched Baby Einstein. She loves the Lullaby Time one. After that, she went down for a nap. At 5, we went to McDonalds to see LeighAnne, Gabe and Jack. Mom used to baby-sit for Gabe and Jack and now live in Zanesville. They were in town for a little while, so we met at McDonalds so the boys could play while we visited with LeighAnne.
Wednesday, August 6, 2008
Abigail actually rolled over from her back to her belly (with her arm out from under her). As soon as she got there, she started fussing because she was on her belly. However, she was near the division between the carpet of the living room and the vinyl flooring in the kitchen, so that might have helped her get her arm out. After that, she would roll over continuously but keeping her arm underneath her. Chris had a work meeting after work, so he met us at church. In church, we laid her on a blanket on the pew and she went to sleep. She slept until she wanted a bottle. After church, Abigail and I went to mom's house. Mom is working on a cross stitch picture for her that needed her footprints. If we didn't do it before long, there wouldn't be room because her feet are growing. So, we did that and they turned out good. When we got home, it was bottle and bed for Abigail.
Tuesday, August 5, 2008
Abigail started rolling over onto her belly with her arm underneath her. She has been harder to get her to sleep for long periods of time since she was held more this weekend.
Monday, August 4, 2008
Chris took the day off to spend time with us since we hadn't seen him since Thursday and he got home late on Sunday night. I had a dentist appt at 10:30 (which took an hour) and then I went out to Wal-Mart. I brought a pizza home for lunch. In the afternoon, I did some laundry and unpacked things from the weekend and things I bought at Wal-Mart. I made a chicken casserole for supper.
Sunday, August 3, 2008
After we got ready for church, we took pictures with the Vincent Gang. After church, we went back to their house to eat lunch. Shortly after lunch was over, we got back on the road. We stopped in Zanesville at Steak & Shake for a quick bite to eat, then headed to church in Caldwell, where we just made it with a few minutes to spare. We then headed home. I put Abigail to bed, then got her up around 11 or so since I was still up waiting for Chris to come home. Abigail had finished her bottle and was sound asleep on our bed when he got home. It was good to see him since I hadn't seen him since Thursday afternoon.
Saturday, August 2, 2008
Mom & I got up before 7 so that we could make sure we were ready to go when we needed to be. Abigail stayed asleep for a while and cooperated well as we got the car loaded up, etc. We went shopping, met Chris' brother and sister-in-law for lunch, then shopped again. Abigail didn't cooperate with going to sleep in the stroller, so in the afternoon, mom put her to sleep then sat on a bench while I went in to a few of the shops. After we left the outlet mall, we headed to West Milton, OH to spend the night with friends. Bob used to be the preacher at Harmar Hill and we were very close to them while they were here. I used to baby-sit for the kids. We ate supper with them then put Abigail to sleep. While she slept, the rest of us went outside to play cornhole, eat dessert and enjoy each other's company. About 11, I got Abigail up to feed her and then put her back down. She slept until 5:30 without a peep.
Friday, August 1, 2008
I finished packing for our weekend away. While I was doing that, Abigail watched some of one of her new Baby Einstein DVDs. She loved it. She sat and squealed through most of it. I even started it again and she watched maybe half before wanting to go to sleep. Around noon, we went to mom's. I gave her part of her bottle and changed her so she would be fine for a long car ride. She did pretty good for the car ride. When we got to Columbus, we searched around but finally found a hotel and went to Babies R Us. We decided to find Don Pablos for supper and after taking the long way to get there, we finally made it. We went shopping at JC Penney Outlet and then went back to the hotel to go swimming. Even though it was cold, it was still fun. Abigail was even shivering but squealling the whole time. When we were finished, we went back to the room, gave her a bottle and put her in her playpen for the night. I reorganized things then went to bed. Abigail woke up 3-4 times wanting her pacifier back but didn't want a bottle until after 5.
Thursday, July 31, 2008
Abigail took a long nap again, allowing me to have sometime to myself. Chris came home from work early because he was going to leave soon after he got home. He got things ready, then headed out to his mom & dad's to practice shooting before they would leave to go up north (around Medina, OH, I think) for a state shoot over the weekend. It was the last night of VBS and then there was a picnic after. She fell asleep during class so she was in a pretty good mood for the picnic. Then we came home and went to bed.
